Whereas most of the one bid leagues have little chance of winning, the Summit League usually sends teams dancing that have a shot to win. They have a recent upset in the tournament, when #12 North Dakota State beat #5 Oklahoma in 2014. This year, the Summit League champion South Dakota State is projected to land around the 13 seed line, certainly an area where an upset could spring, especially if the Summit League POY Mike Daum, who averages 23 points a game, has the game of his life.
All eight teams will participate in the Summit League tournament, which will have three rounds. The entire tournament will take place at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Quarterfinals-Saturday/Sunday, March 3rd/4th
#8 Western Illinois vs. #1 South Dakota State
#5 North Dakota State vs. #4 Fort Wayne
#7 Omaha vs. #2 South Dakota
#6 Oral Roberts vs. #3 Denver
Semifinals-Monday, March 5th
#4 Fort Wayne vs. #1 South Dakota State
#3 Denver vs. #2 South Dakota
Final-Tuesday, March 6th
South Dakota State was the best team of the conference from start to finish and I believe that this will continue in the tournament as well. Mike Daum will lead the Jackrabbits into the NCAA Tournament and be a legitimate threat to upset a higher seed.
Denver 72, South Dakota State 81
