2018 Championship Week Primer-Colonial

In this century, the Colonial has had two teams make miraculous runs to the Final Four as an 11 seed. These teams were George Mason in 2006 and Virginia Commonwealth in 2011. However, both of these teams have used this success to move on to the Atlantic 10, and the Colonial has suffered for it. The last time a Colonial team won an NCAA Tournament game was in 2013, when James Madison won a First Four game as a 16 seed.

The CAA Tournament will feature all ten teams playing in a four round tournament. The top six seeds received a bye to the quarterfinals. The entire tournament will take place at the North Charleston Coliseum in North Charleston, South Carolina.

First Round-Saturday, March 3rd
#9 James Madison vs. #8 Drexel
#10 Elon vs. #7 Delaware

Quarterfinals-Sunday, March 4th
#8 Drexel vs. #1 Charleston
#5 Towson vs. #4 William and Mary
#7 Delaware vs. #2 Northeastern
#6 UNC Wilmington vs. #3 Hofstra

Semifinals-Monday, March 5th
#4 William and Mary vs. #1 Charleston
#6 UNC Wilmington vs. #2 Northeastern

Final-Tuesday, March 6th
Northeastern had a seven game winning streak going into the conference tournament that helped them clinch a share of the regular season title. Charleston, however, had an eleven game winning streak that was only broken at William and Mary in overtime in the last game of the season. I think that Charleston will make the NCAA Tournament by winning this game.

Northeastern 75, Charleston 82
