Last year's Horizon League tournament was the epitome of March Madness. The last place team, Milwaukee, made a run all the way to the final game, where they lost to Northern Kentucky, who made the NCAA Tournament in their first year of eligibility. This year, perennial regular season champion Valparaiso is in the Missouri Valley and Northern Kentucky has continued their winning ways in taking the regular season championship.
All ten teams will be in the tournament, which will be played in four rounds. The top six seeds will receive byes to the quarterfinals. The entire tournament will take place at Little Caesars Arena in Detriot, Michigan.
First Round-Friday, March 2nd
#9 Youngstown State vs. #8 Cleveland State
#10 Detroit vs. #7 Green Bay
Quarterfinals-Saturday/Sunday, March 3rd/4th
#8 Cleveland State vs. #1 Northern Kentucky
#5 IUPUI vs. #4 Oakland
#7 Green Bay vs. #2 Wright State
#6 Milwaukee vs. #3 UIC
Semifinals-Monday, March 5th
#5 IUPUI vs. #1 Northern Kentucky
#3 UIC vs. #2 Wright State
Final-Tuesday, March 6th
Wright State had the lead in the conference for most of the season, only stumbling slightly late. Despite this, Wright State beat Northern Kentucky twice in close games. I'll think they'll do it again here and go to the NCAA Tournament.
Wright State 72, Northern Kentucky 70
