2018 Championship Week Primer-Big South

While not as far down the pecking order as some other conferences, the Big South is a perennial one bid league. Last year's champion, Winthrop, managed to escape the bottom seeds lines and was a 13 seed, where they lost in the first round to Butler by 12 points. The last time that a Big South school won an NCAA Tournament game was 2011, when this year's conference champion UNC Asheville won a First Four game.

The Big South Tournament will feature all 10 teams in a four round tournament. The first round will be at campus sites, then the quarterfinals and semifinals will be hosted by UNC Asheville, and the final will be hosted by whoever is the highest remaining seed.

First Round-Tuesday, February 27th

#9 Presbyterian at #8 Charleston Southern
#10 Longwood at #7 High Point

Quarterfinals-Thursday, March 1st
#8 Charleston Southern vs #1 UNC Asheville
#5 Liberty vs #4 Campbell
#7 High Point vs. #2 Radford
#6 Gardner-Webb vs #3 Winthrop

Semifinals-Friday, March 2nd
#4 Campbell vs #1 UNC Asheville
#7 High Point vs. #3 Winthrop

Final-Sunday, March 4th
Campbell made a spirited run to the Big South final last year as an underdog on the hot shooting of Chris Clemons. Clemons is still shooting hot, averaging nearly 25 points a game. This year, I believe that they will finish what they started and make it to the NCAA Tournament for only the second time in their history

#4 Campbell 80, #3 Winthrop 74
